Jay’s Birthday Weekend Chronicles

For everyone who read my birthday post for Jay, here’s the weekend recap of all the celebrations!

  1. Went to a new restaurant that Jay’s been wanting to try…boys out to eatappetizer smalland we ate alligator for the first time. Tastes like chicken, though it is chewier and wetter (I know this appetizer looks bad, but I only had a bite, then had a salad with dressing on the side for dinner).
  2. Jay got an almost perfect score on the carnival shooting game at Bass Pro Shop (he got over 500 points and even shot a secret mark that made a UFO appear).
  3. We watched Cee snarf french fries like there was no tomorrow (and were glad that at least they made him happy so we could enjoy our food).
  4. I tried to make a new kind of cake – Jay really wanted a pumpkin roll, but I couldn’t find one to buy and don’t have the supplies to make one in my average pantry, so I attempted a pumpkin roll-flavored cake.  The recipe will be coming this week!
  5. bugJay liked my present! We agreed not to spend a lot of money for his birthday, but Jay said that he’d like a desk toy for work. Cee and I made a secret trip to Radio Shack and found a robot bug with a control that seemed up Jay’s alley. He loved it and I even caught him playing with it first thing Saturday morning.
  6. Cee said “Me!” for the first time. Scenario: Jay walks out of the kitchen saying, “Mom, wanna share this bag of cookies with me?” I said no, but Cee chased after him crying, “Me me me me me me me!” Boy did that come out of nowhere, but it was certainly fitting for our cookie monster.
  7. We went on an awesome date to Sea World and got to do all of the things we’ve wanted to do, but that we couldn’t do with Cee.  We sat in 2 Splash Zones – Jay always has wanted to be splashed by Shamu, and we sat down front for the sea lions too.sea lion showkim with shamu
  8. We also rode EVERY ride at Sea World (including the splash down ones, becuase it’s a warm TX November and we can!splash down jaysplahs down kim
  9. We had our first TX snow storm…snow stormmade from blowing suds.  Now that I can get used to!
  10. Before the Shamu Christmas show there was a caroling group to entertain the crowd. During Feliz Navidad one of the singers put her mic up to us and Jay and I sang it on the big screen (Boy did she not know what she’d done when she picked us!).

Great weekend, great date!  Thanks for being born Honey!
