My Baby Beat Me Up

Thing are slow going in my house today.

Last night my sweet baby beat me up:finger bruise

It’s surprising just how much stuff your finger touches in a day.  It’s not something you really notice until you get hurt, making every minuet movement painful.

Ready for the story?  It was all quite innocent really.  Cee grabbed the glass/metal/oh-so-heavy lid from a pot off the table after dinner.  He was putting it up to his face and giggling, so I took it and mushed my face up against it to make a funny squashed nose face at him.

This is an important lesson for any child to learn long before they start riding school buses – smashing your face on glass = hilarious!

He laughed, took the lid, put it to his face, then gave it back to me.  This time I did a squishy kiss face which he also loved.

He took the lid back, put it to his face, and then threw it with mighty force onto the ground where my unsuspecting ring finger rested.

YEEEEOOOOOUUUCCCCCCCHHHHHHH!

I screamed, Cee screamed, Jay came running to find both of us writhing/screaming on the floor.  I shouted that I thought Cee had broken my finger, Jay tried to look my wound over, but didn’t realize that I was showing it to him and that it wasn’t hidden where I gripped my hand.

The whole thing was quite an emotional scene of misunderstandings.

Cee thought he’d killed me.

I thought Cee had killed me.

Jay thought I was in shock and not letting him near my wound when I was in fact trying to put it in front of him while sobbing.

In such a state it was hard to really move the situation along much, so I tried to gather what was left of my wits and told Jay to take care of Cee, and that it wasn’t his fault, we were just playing and had an accident.  Then I tried to ice my finger, but the pain of it was too much.  Instead Jay found some Motrin for me, while I tried to wind down on the couch.  Eventually the pain died down enough for me to talk with Jay and assure him I was OK and didn’t need a doctor.

Though not broken it seems that I have bruised it all the way through with marks showing on top, under the nail, and all around under the bottom.

I hope I’ll be able to recover quickly, but until then Cee is being extra thoughtful to help me.  Here he is helping me with the laundry this morning:laundry helper small
