Thursday Reveal #17 with Ghostly Photo Challenge
Wordless Wednesday #17 was taken about a year ago (wow, a lot can change in a year!) in the local cemetery of our college town. I went with a friend for a amateur photographer’s night and had a great time with their models as well as being my own subject. This pic was taken on the night setting, on a tripod, and with a timer. During the long exposure I made exaggerated movements with my body to make the ghost effect, then later I edited in the spooky colors.
If you want to take the challenge and try a shot like this there’s a few tips to remember:
- DON’T use flash – that will shorten your exposure right back down and you’ll get a frozen picture. I did this shot near a street lamp and it worked out well for long shadows.
- DO use a tripod – even slight pulses in your hands will disturb the long exposure making the whole pic fuzzy.
- USE the environment, having the tree and tombstone near me showed that while the pic was solid, I was moving.
- MOVE slowly and deliberately – if you move too fast you’ll disappear, move to slow and you’re just a blob. Try lots of motions and HAVE FUN!
I’d love to see how it goes if anyone decides to take the challenge!
The title I chose: The Ghost in my Past
My top contributions this week were:
- JoAnn S. with: Witches riding through the sky,
On their broomsticks way up high,
Black cats howl as they go by,
For this is Halloween! - Javann with: Ghost in the Graveyard
- Amaree with: In the “dead center” of town!

This was a good WW challenge! I forgot to come up with a title; however, even now I can’t think of one. My brain is on “lame” setting today.
