Thursday Reveal #27

Wordless Wednesday #27 ww27is an oldie but a goodie shot in Idaho at the Hard Hat.  It was Cee’s first time ever trying a lemon thanks to his oh-so-happy-to-shove-foreign-objects-in-Cee’s-mouth Dad.  As many commented, Cee did in fact pucker up, then go in for a second bite.

Using picnik.com I made this picture Sepia, slightly faded, but also using the paintbrush tool to bring the lemon color back to the original in order for it to stand out more.  I then put Ortonish over the pic with most of the bloom gone.

My title for this is, “Why Dad, Why?”

My top contributions for the week are:

1 – Sarah with: When life gives you lemons….

2 – Kendra with: See? I never back out on a dare!

3 – I really couldn’t decide on this one, so I’m calling it a tie between Proud Grandpa with: Not easy to maintain a poker face while eating a lemon. And Mama D with:  What are you trying to do to me? Don’t you like me anymore? Wait a minute… Hmmm… it’s not so bad… maybe one more taste and then I’ll know.

Thursday Reveal #25

Ok, confession time.  I didn’t actually take WW #25, Jay did.  But that’s part of the idea for this week, so bear with me while I get through everything.

ww25Jay took the pic in our bathroom. Since I loved the contrast of the messy trouble and the innocent face on Cee, I edited the picture to be almost a spotlight on the trouble, which captures my emotional reaction upon walking into the bathroom to check on my boys.  On picnik.com I used the black and white spotlight tool with a very hard edge to keep Cee’s face and belly lit up, while fading and dulling what was around him.  I also used the same soften tool to blur around the same area.  I then used Orton-ish with no bloom to harden the light, and topped it off the with biggest and darkest vignette I could make.

The title I give this pic:  What Happens When Dad’s In Charge of Bath Time

I had a lot of great contributions this week, it made picking just 3 very hard, but here they are:

1 – Javann with: Caught Red Bellied. (This title captured the idea I was going for with spotlighting to create a “caught” effect.)

2 – Kendra with: What? Is there some sort of problem? (This suggestion goes great with the contrast of trouble and innocence that I mentioned.)

3 – Mama D with: WANTED!! THE RED STRIPED BANDIT – BEWARE!! He is armed with a red sticky sucker and DANGEROUS!! (…and really, really cute with red stripes on his belly!) (And this one made me laugh.)

Thanks to everyone who played along and I hope to see you back next week!

Thursday Reveal #24 with a Photo Challenge

Wordless Wednesday #24 was taken in Fredericksburg, TX at a monument of the town’s founder making peace with a local tribe.  Using picnik.com I adjusted the contrast, then used the Lomo-ish tool with faded Sepia on top to create an old look/feel to the pic.  I then framed it with a Christmas border with this as the reveal idea:reveal 24small

My top contributions this week were:

1 – Kristy with: I come in peace…I would like to leave with this.

2 – Mama D with: Whowa! Thanks Man! Thanks for the new toy! … You can let go now. … I’ve got it, okay? … Uhh… Let Go!

3 – Mossie with: Don’t take it, it’s a trap – I can see it in his eyes…

I also want to give a special shout out to Proud Grandpa and Grandma S. who were the most socially conscious this week, both choosing the title: Don’t you know that smoking is bad for you?!

Thanks to everyone who participated, especially a couple of newcomers to the game – Kristy and Mossie, I hope that you’ll keep coming back!

PHOTO CHALLENGE

Take a picture that is goofy, fun, or sentimental and make it into a holiday picture.  I used a peace pipe to play off of Peace On Earth, but there are tons of other possibilities out there by using text, frames, stickers, or even fake snow in your editing.  Good luck, and I’d love to see what you come up with!
