Wordless Wednesday #40

As always with all Wordless Wednesdays, please leave a comment with the title or description that you would give this picture series. On Thursday I’ll reveal the name I chose as well as the top 3 contributions.

Thursday Reveal #39

Wordless Wednesday #39 was taken at the Botanical Gardens here in San Antonio Texas.  They have little houses set up to give you different ideas for landscaping in this climate.  The size is just right for doodlebug fun and I couldn’t pass up the photo opportunity.

I wanted to give this pic an older feel, so using picnik.com I put a faded sepia tone over the picture, and then used Boost to bring back some more color.

The title that I gave this pic is: Afternoon Visitor

The competition for best contributions was very hard this week, but here they are:

1 -  Mama D with: Oh, the places I’ll go…

2 – Amber with: Sippy-Cup in one hand… endless exploration in the other

3 – Proud Grandpa with: Wow! I guess I am not in Kansas anymore.

Thanks to everyone who played along, especially the new contributors.  Sorry that some were submitted after I already picked my winners.  I hope to see you back here next week!

Virtual Bouquet

Flowers make people happy:

Since it’s now officially Spring (Yay!), and Monday (Boo!) I thought y’all could use a little virtual flower bouquet to start your week.  Look, be happy, but don’t bother smelling.

Thursday Reveal #38

Wordless Wednesday #38 was taken in the state park just down the road from our house.  I loved this picture as it is a great demonstration of what your digital macro lens can do.  The depth of field shrinks to such a precise size that a butterfly’s head can be focused, but its wings blur into the background.  In the end I did very little to edit this picture, just a faded Lomo-ish tool on picnik.com.

The name I’d give this pic would be: Now Cee Won’t Miss It

(Cee was riding on Daddy’s shoulders at the time of this pic and I didn’t want him to miss this lovely creature.)

My contributions this week were considerably better than my title, so we had a few ties.  Here are the top 3 spots:

1 – Calista with: Small and Simple Things

2 – A tie between Mama D with: Mother Nature at Her Best and Proud Grandpa with: A Delicate Balance

3 – A tie between Jay with: A Butterfly’s Helipad and AJ with: Pit Stop

Thanks for playing along and see ya next week!
