Our First Month-aversary GIVEAWAY from Minute Rice

This giveaway is now closed, please no more entries.  Thanks!

Today is Just A Mom, HA!’s first month-aversary!  I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has made this first month a success.  Jay and I have been amazed in the last few weeks as we’ve met and surpassed the goals we hoped to achieve in three months.  Thank you everyone for your support, for your comments, questions, and for helping me spread the word about this new project.

To celebrate this important month-aversary I thought I’d throw another

GIVEAWAY!

IMG_3469After seeing my post for Green Chile Casserole, the awesome marketing team for Minute Rice contacted me to see if I or my readers would like some of their products for FREE.  I assured them that we would and they rushed me 5 free product vouchers.  These vouchers are good for all Minute Rice products (up to 14 oz.) including brown rice, Premium rice, Ready-to-Serve bowls, and the traditional boxes.

I’m also celebrating my month-aversary by posting a couple more Minute Rice recipes this week over at the Average Pantry Gourmet page to entice everybody to enter!

To enter:  Leave me a comment answering the following question:

Have you ever used rice for something other than eating, and if so, for what?

This contest will run until Saturday at 9 pm Central time and will have 4  winners; the Grand Prize winner will get two vouchers, and the three runners up will get one.  Good Luck Everybody!

*Want to improve your odds of winning?

I’ll give up to two extra entries to those that:

1) post a note about this giveaway on their blog or
2) who have justamomha.com linked on their blog roll

Be sure to let me know in your comment if you qualify for the extra entries.  Thanks for the support!

Of course I have :D Rice inside a clean sock (tied up) or rice inside a homemade cotton packet makes a really awesome heat pad. Just microwave in minute intervals and voila, cheap pain relief.

I used rice in decorative containers and then layed my jewelry in it for display. Very pretty.

My grandma taught me to fold a washcloth over, sew around the two edges, fill it with rice, then finish sewing it up, and keep it in the freezer for bumps and owies, or pop it in the microwave for headaches and cramps. great!

I use rice like they mentioned above, in a hot pad. Never thought about trying it for a cold pack, though! Awesome. I’ve also used it to make little shakers for my boys. Rice is probably the only food I could eat every day, and for every meal (I know, because I did it for 1 1/2 years on my mission!!!)

And you’re on my blogroll :)

I haven’t had to use rice, yet, to dry out my cell phone but my husband saved someone’s iphone by telling them to put it in a bag of rice. It really worked!

I’ve used rice for instruments with the kids. And I’ve made a few rice packs, the kind you use for hot or cold therapy.

in our household not only is rice to eat but more importantly its a tool that we use for my sons texture therapy. My son has food aversions and textures are part of his problem so we put the rice in plastic containers and we encourage him to pick it up play with it stick toys in it etc. . We also make art with rice.

A baby shower game: Put (closed) safety pins in a bowl full of uncooked rice. Have people take turns trying to fish out the pins while blind-folded. It’s way harder than it sounds! Safety pins feel amazingly like rice.

We have used rice as a sandbox. Way fun for the kids. We have also used it for art projects. You know those colored sand things you can make at the fair for mega bucks? Colored rice does the same thing for way cheaper! I also blogged about you on our family blog.
